Good to know
Questions, answered
- Are these tools really free?
- Yes. There is no account, no sign-up, no watermark and no daily limit. JuriStack is a practice-management platform for law firms; the tools are a public service for the people we build for.
- Where do my files go?
- Nowhere. The PDF tools run entirely inside your browser using your own computer. The file is never uploaded to a server, never stored and never logged. That matters for privileged documents, and it is also why there is no file-size limit beyond what your device can handle.
- Where do the calculators get their figures?
- From the published sources: the prescribed rate of interest under the Prescribed Rate of Interest Act, the gazetted court tariffs, the SARS tax tables and the Public Holidays Act. Each figure is stored with the date it took effect, so a calculation uses the rate or tariff in force on the dates you enter, and every result names its source.
- Can I rely on a calculator result in court?
- Use it as a check, not as advice. The calculators apply the Acts and rules as written, but a court can order otherwise, divisions issue their own practice directives, and the facts of a matter decide which rule applies. Confirm anything that matters with an attorney.
- Which browsers work?
- Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile. Very large PDFs are faster on a desktop or laptop simply because it has more memory.
